Bill served as President and Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board of Directors of Premcor Inc. from April, 1998 until April, 2002. Prior to joining Premcor, Bill was President of ARCO Products Company. During his 31-year career at ARCO, Bill was also President of ARCO Transportation Company, and Vice President of Corporate Planning. He served as the Chairman of The Trans-Alaska Pipeline Company Owners Committee from 1992 to 1994. He served on the Board of Directors of Solutia from 2010 to 2012 and Lyondell Petrochemical Company from 1988 to 1993.
Currently, Bill serves on the Board of Directors of Flowserve Corporation in Irving, Texas; Peabody Energy in St. Louis; and Sempra Energy in San Diego, California. He is also an investor and a member of the Board of Directors of Sequoia Sciences, an early stage pharmaceutical drug discovery company in St. Louis.
Bill is a founding member and treasurer of the Saint Louis Arch Angels. He is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago and the National Council of the Olin School of Business at Washington University in St. Louis. He is a Vice Chair of the Board of Opera Theatre of St. Louis and Chair of the Radio Arts Foundation/Saint Louis. He is member of the Board of Character Plus, the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, the St. Louis Science Center and the Missouri History Museum.
Bill holds a BS from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. Bill and his wife, Marsha, reside in St. Louis and have two children.
